Nearly a month after Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players took on Mewtwo the Unrivaled, The Pokemon Company revealed that the next seven-star Tera Raid battle will pit trainers against a formidable foe. Starting in October, a Hisuian Decidueye with the Grass Tera type will appear in seven-star Tera Raid dens in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and players will have two opportunities to battle and catch it.

The news arrived just weeks after the release of The Teal Mask, which was the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. As trainers continued their Pokemon journey in the land of Kitakami, The Pokemon Company also hosted five-star Tera raid battles against Slither Wing and Iron Moth. While neither Paradox Pokemon posed too much of a challenge to well-seasoned Pokemon trainers, the upcoming battle against a starter Pokemon from Hisui may prove to be a tough battle.

According to Serebii.net, the seven-star Tera Raid battle against Hisuian Decidueye the Unrivaled will begin on Thursday, October 5, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, and conclude on Sunday, October 8 at 7:59 p.m. Eastern. However, players will have another chance to face Decidueye the following week, from October 13 to October 16. While Hisuian Decidueye has been available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet since the version 3.0 update for Pokemon Home, this will be the first time that trainers without access to Pokemon Home or Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be able to catch this powerful Pokemon. Trainers that are able to best Hisuian Decidueye the Unrivaled will be granted the Mightiest Mark.

Known as the Arrow Quill Pokemon, Decidueye first appeared as a Grass and Ghost dual-type Pokemon in Pokemon Sun and Moon. However, it received a Hisuian form with the Grass and Fighting types in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. While a seven-star Tera raid against Decidueye was held in March 2023, that battle was against the Alolan variant.

As the final evolution of the Grass starter Pokemon Rowlet, Hisuian Decidueye is a strong physical attacker with the signature move of Triple Arrows. Triple Arrows is a Fighting-type move that has a high critical hit chance, and it can lower the target’s defense or make them flinch. Coupled with the hidden ability Scrappy, and moves such as Leaf Blade, Swords Dance, Shadow Claw, and Smack Down, Hisuian Decidueye will be a strong physical threat for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers to deal with.

However, a team of strong Fire Pokemon like Iron Moth, Ceruledge, and Skeledirge should be able to take advantage of Decidueye’s weaknesses. Only time will tell how much of a challenge Hisuian Decidueye will be for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
