Pokemon GO has announced a new event in collaboration with Detective Pikachu Returns, celebrating the launch of the Switch game in October. Pokemon GO has featured a variety of events to keep its community engaged.

The current Pokemon GO season has finally brought Scarlet and Violet Pokemon into the game. For fans of Psychic-types, the return of the Psychic Spectacular event gave the chance to catch critters such as Spoink, Gothita, and Solosis, which for the first time appeared in the shiny variant. Out to Play is another Pokemon GO event that has also been in the spotlight, because players can hatch a rare Shiny Hisuian Growlithe. The month is ending, but Pokemon GO‘s events keep going with a new announcement.

Pokemon GO has announced an event in collaboration with Detective Pikachu Returns that starts on October 5 at 10 a.m. and ends on October 9 at 8 p.m. local time. The event will increase the spawn rates of 13 Pokemon, including a Pikachu wearing a detective hat, based on the Detective Pikachu movie, and a Slowpoke wearing a hat. Players can get a Raichu wearing a detective hat by evolving Pikachu.

 Meanwhile, Alolan Exeggutor, Magikarp, Xatu, Bellossom, Lotad, Chimecho, and Bronzor can be found in shiny form. The list ends with Growlithe, Ducklett, Cutiefly, and Falinks. The event also includes themed Field Research tasks that will reward players with Sudowoodo, Snivy, and Rowlett encounters. Pokemon GO players will also complete the themed Collection Challenge by completing Field Research tasks.

The Pokemon GO x Detective Pikachu Returns crossover event includes double XP earned by spinning PokeStops. Once a day there’s a chance that a Pikachu with a detective hat will appear for players who take snapshots in Pokemon GO. The same Pikachu will appear for players who complete the Event Timed Research, which will be available to be claimed until October 9 at 8 p.m. local time. Finally, Pokemon GO will release the Detective Pikachu Avatar Pose in the in-game store on October 5.

Pokemon GO Season 12 continues until December 1, so players should wait for the announcement of other events over the next few months. Meanwhile, Detective Pikachu Returns was announced this year and is coming to Nintendo Switch on October 6. With the crossover between the two games happening in the first week of October, Pokemon GO players can celebrate the release of Detective Pikachu Returns while playing Pokemon GO.
